CULTURE

Banjara Hills is an urban commercial centre in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is one of more than 150 cities/boroughs comprising greater Hyderabad. This is an upmarket locality close to Jubilee Hills. This area was a hilly forest and was least inhabited in the past. Only few royal members of the Nizam's dynasty lived here, which was a hunting ground for them.

Banjara Hills is famous for its hotels, upscale restaurants, and large shopping malls. Taj Krishna, Taj Deccan and Taj Banjara are well-known star hotels in this area. Many restaurants offer cuisines from all over the world: Chinese Pavilion, Ohris Banjara, Barbeque Nation, and Fusion 9. There are many retail business establishments. Big malls like the GVK OneCity Center, Midtown, Ohri's, Alcazar Plaza among many more dot the skyline. The highest building in the Banjara Hills area is the commercial Laxmi Cyber Center.

KBR Park (2.6 km) is one of the largest green parks in the city and it is very well maintained by the local authorities. It is a great spot for a quick and brisk morning jog.

Lamakaan (2.1 km) is an open cultural center in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, India. The non-profit organisation provides space for events such as arts, literature, theater, music, debates etc.

Kalakriti Art Gallery (2.1 km) since it’s inception in October 2002 has been dedicated primarily to nurture creativity in the visual arts, and to support the initiatives of creativity and understanding in the cultural sphere.

​

Alliance Française (1 km) is a French Cultural center (with a cafe) that relies on a large network of more than a thousand associations, established in 136 countries and delivering courses to a total of 460 000 students.

 

It organizes around 100 cultural events every year in the city of Hyderabad. This includes monthly French films and documentary screenings, concerts, dance shows, theatre plays, exhibitions, conferences, workshops, masterclasses and competitions while you can have authentic French crepes in their Cafeteria.

British Council (2.7 km) is a British Govt. sponsored cultural center and Library and has a cafe that serves the best bites and coffee while you read thru British Pulp fiction and you can rent out more than 1500 popular and classic British movies on DVD.
